UPDATE:

I made the new version in September of 2011…it is chiffon and leather with little details like lace linings that really make it special. Under the sheer dress I paired a strapless, backless bra with vintage looking low cut high waist briefs with sewn on garters. The long glove does come with it, it is just not shown in the photos.

I LOVE this costume/character. I had no idea of the Watchmen until I got a request last year in the midst of my Halloween hullaballoo. Then of course, once I get a second, I get to research a bit.

This one is not as simple as it looks! (like her character)

I looked around online and saw several “ok” versions of this, but I want to do it right!

I have made a prototype using satin and cordura, but know that the georgette or chiffon will be more accurate and the leather will be more realistic once I get the pattern down.

I use my mannequin for draping. There is no commercial pattern out there that will help you here.

So….

undercorset (make or buy> ?) with briefs and garters?

The top is a half corset, fully boned and lined with a lace up back. The sleeves hang off the shoulders for an authentic recreation look.

The pants are harem style but not too baggy with a lace up closure in the back as well. They can be made sheer as in the photo, or lined . Also included are hand sculpted accessories: headband scarf, necklace, and earrings.

Based on the Johnny Depp character from Tim Burton’s 2010 movie…in a female version!

Shown on without the tights and makeup that came with it.

Stylized Supergirl Corset Costume in Satin and Leather

This was a custom request from a gal who also ordered the Wonder Woman and wanted a slightly sexier, prettier version of Supergirl as well. Normally she wears just a blue leotard, so we decided to pump it up with a corset and cool belt. I love how this turned out and will probably be adding it to my regular costumes for sale next year! It is all satin, with the top fully lined and boned. A leather collared cape is bound in gold ribbon and snaps on. It has an attached belt and laces up the back. Also comes with superhero fingerless gloves! (below). I will add some more photos when I get them from the customer! This beautiful set is made using vintage LOOKING champagne satin material, almost like a shantung silk and appliqued with an antique victorian lace piece. Steel boned and lined. The skirt is tiers of matching satin with elstic waist. On Etsy right now.

Made in a supposed 5t size, WAY too big for my little one, so it is going on sale in the Etsy shop. Really runs about a size girls 6-7. I put in a tie at the back and an extra privacy panel at the low chest which is removable. Slate cornflower-ish blue brocade with gorgeous champagne skirt and slate blue overlay. Gold trim.

This is my “little” version of my deluxe adult one. It was custom made for my daughter who is now selling it to add to her piggy bank It is available for Halloween 2010 on Etsy. I made it just like the regular sized ones with the boned top, in satin and leather, just changing the style to a one piece with a skirt bottom. Size 5T.

Peach and black vintage silk Marie Antoinette bustle costume

I believe this is gonna be one of my favorite creations this year! I have a small collection of vintage lingere and laces and this is made with the most scrumptious peach silk and hand tatted lace. I had made the corset using a thick white brocade lining for stability, then transformed it into this Marie Antoinette style costume. I added accents of black satin, made a matching 3 tiered bustl-y skirt, tie on mask, neck ruffle and SPATS! All with matching antique lace from the 20s/30s. Each layer of the gathered ruffles on the skirt is bound in peach andpink binding, because if you flounce, it shows . I made a pattern for the spats and will try to upload that eventually.
